I ordered a sheet of aluminum to drill holes in/or use adhesive

and then screws to help this problem. Has anyone found a better solution? See picture. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, Jules. The stuff used for those two blocks on the motor mount is like King StarBoard, which is notoriously difficult to glue. Although I did not have that problem on my old boat, I think that your solution of an aluminum patch plate screwed to the original material sounds reasonable.

Thanks Parsons, I think I'll try using GE Iron Grip adhesive http://irongripadhesive.com/?gclid=CPql4MTl5dMCFQwYgQodTsoG0w as well as screws.
