has anyone changed out the carpeting on the hull to something nicer? I was thinking of gluing on light colered vinyl floor planks.

When I had a Hunter 33.5, I cleaned the carpet with carpet cleaner, water & a bit of bleach. Vacuumed off excess solution and air dried with a fan. Looked & smelled much better.
I had also seen where some individuals removed the carpeting and bonded wooden stringers, vertically, to the inside of the hull using fiberglass.
Then attached thin wood planks, horizontally, to the stringers, conforming to the shape of the hull.

There are threads here on replacing the hull liner material. I'm on my phone, so searching is difficult, but in the next day or so I'll try to shoot you some links.

I ripped mine out, intending to replace them, and decided on what to use, but never ordered it. I think I have that link also.

Finally, if you do use a fabric, Jackdaw had a fabulous thread on a quick way to install that kind of stuff. IIRC, z lot of the time savings was by not over-prepping the cleanup of old adhesive. It's a must read for this project.

Ok, this is what I was going to buy:
https://www.sailrite.com/HullBlanket-Headliner-Hull-Liner-Carpet-Type-Sand-M38-72?sc=2&category=37

but I also considered this ($3.00 per yard cheaper and a wider variety of colors if that is important):

Jackdaw blogged about replacing his headliners (not the same, but both involve removing old fabric, then adhesive, then re-gluing, so this may be worth a look):

But what I really want to find is a thread I thought he started about how to save a bunch of time by not worrying about getting every scrap of old adhesive off. When I find it, I'll post a link and edit this post. Watch the blog stuff first, maybe it's in one of the videos and I'm just not remembering correctly.

Frankly, I would consider using sheet vinyl flooring rather than carpeting. It has a foam base, it largely waterproof, is adhered with contact cement, is inexpensive, and comes in quite a number of attractive patterns. I did the H31 head walls in the stuff when the original surface started peel. It is pretty forgiving and handles curves and corners pretty well. Here is a link to the product I used from Home Depot.

I will probably use a lighter pattern for walls in the V-birth.

I was thinking of using that. did you use peel and stick? How did it hold up? how did you clean bulkhead first? any pics?

No I did not use the peel & stick as I don't trust that adhesive. HD sells an adhesive for that product that, if I remember correctly, trowels on like the adhesive for tile. It has been on for over two years and is not coming up anywhere. I did take pictures, but they are on my laptop at the boat. I'll just snap some new ones when I'm there this week.
