How to silence noisy H33 sliding companionway hatch

The sliding companionway hatch on my '05 H33 squeals loudly each time I open/close it and I have been unable to fix it. The hatch slides smoothly and quietly immediately after or during a rainfall. Otherwise it makes this loud screeching noise when it's opened or closed.

I applied McLube and vaseline on the metal sliders but it did not have any effect.

Anyone has a suggestion because I can't see what else I can do short of disassembling the hatch.

Do you have some weight on the cover where the glass slides under? If so, then the weight is pushing the cover down onto the glass.

On my fiberglass hatches I use "glide tape" used to make drawers slide in furniture, some are thin Teflon type material but the one I prefer is thicker semi rigid with ridges. This is just the first one showed up in a quick google search, woodworker and furniture maker suppliers also carry it.
