I disagree. Y-valves, like toilets, need a bit of maintenance and o-rings are a lot less expensive than y-valves. The only alternative to rotating "barrel" y-valves is y-valve has only a little "gate" that swings to block one side or the other. I've never seen one of those that doesn't leak within a year or two...something as small as a grape seed can jam it. Use adapter fittings if necessary to eliminate any deflection tugging.
