I have a short shaft on my H26 put on by the previous owner. In order to get the prop in the water, he had to lower the motor mount. Now, even with the motor tilted up, it will drag the prop on a port tack. See the pic below. It is not hard to image that with just a little heal to starboard, that prop is dragging in the water. When I replace this O.B. it will be with a long shaft O.B. The second pic shows the motor down. You can see that my prop is just barely in the water. Not an ideal situation. You need a long shaft O.B.

There are three sizes of the length of engines, standare or 15 inches, long shaft 20 inches or extra long or 25 inch shaft. Suggest minimum which works most of the time is the 20 inch shaft which I put on as a dealer who sold nearly a quarter of the production of the boat. If sailing a lot in the ocean with following seas with the possibility of the engine coming out of the water, then a 25 inch.
