feeling short of sail on 2004 hunter 41. Have the standard Jib but thinking about a larger Genoa. With no backstay on this rig, was wondering if anyone has added one, how large and what your experience has been?

Why do you feel short of sail on the 41? The Hunter B&R rig usually begins to be overpowered at 15-17 knots. Do you sail in light wind a lot? Or race?
We just had a detailed thread about sail efficiency and, if these discussions settle anything, the conclusion was generally larger headsails have limited improvement of upwind speed on fractional rigs. If you're not getting enough drive out of your sail plan maybe it's the main.

Seadaddler is right, 110 jib. If you want to go bigger you need a gennaker or spinnaker. I have a Doyle UPS I’m not in love with and a loft made Spinnaker with a sock that is pretty awesome.

Thanks all - light winds and sometimes we just like running with a big Genoa - there is an asymmetrical spinnaker in the locker - will learn how to use it !
