Engine Tacho

We just replaced The Tacho on our 2006 C309

The old one either did nothing or went in all directions
Was quoted A$560 to replace, got one from Catalina Direct for A$118 ,
1/2 hour, job done.
Hardest thing was getting the steering wheel off !

In theory it's been pre calibrated,
But it's been so long since my tacho worked I'm not sure what min and max revs should be.
Is Idle about 600 revs
Max about 3200 revs
And cruising revs about 2500-2800

Assuming your engine is running properly, expect 3500 rpm max. I like to cruise at 2800.

I think I get about 3500 out of mine.

I can't get more than 2900 at the moment in gear,
but the prop needs a clean so I think it might be ok

Would be interested to know your rev readings when you take the boat out

I get 800 RPM idle, 3250 RPM flat out
Gives me about 7 kts with the standad 3 blade prop.
Came 8th in the WAGS today.
Only had 8 rum and cokes.
I think we can do better with more rum.

More than 8 rums and you might not find your way back to the mooring..
Hope there were more than 8 boats sailing on Wednesday
