I leave the key in the ignition. My thoughts are 'who's going to steal a sailboat'?
It would be a slower chase than OJ in his Bronco.......

Cheers

So much for the feeling of "I got a key to start the engine. That means the boat engine is locked when I leave the marina. "
Well, I turn off the batteries inside the boat, and the boat is locked. You'd have to break into the boat to get everything going to start it even with the engine key in your possession...

I only bought 1 key. I figured I find out if it worked first. I might buy a second one just have around, but then... all the boat places have one laying around...

When I leave my boat I close the raw water seacock and hang the key on that handle. That way I will never start the engine without opening the raw water seacock.
