Engine access hatch

Have any C310 owners cut an access hatch to the engine from the head? While adjusting the rear motor mounts last week it seemed like something that would make it a lot easier to work on the port side of the engine (starter, alternator, etc.). Because there's so little clearance on that side I don't think it would look bad to have a hole in the wood panel there, but I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this and value other's thoughts.

Thanks. My search parameters were a little lame this morning. Sounds like it's not worth the trouble...

The solution for me was to use a 18 x 24 sheet of Acrylic mirror. Works really well and it won't break if you happen to wack it with a tool. I used some velcro to temporarily fasten it to the wall.

I just unscrew the stairs, move them all the way forward and then lay on my side. I did cut in a panel from the back.
