We love our 310 but then owners of any Catalina will say there boat is the best, but the question was are there any out standing problems that he should be aware of not what is the best. The only thing that I can think of is that the M25 has had trany problems and idle at a higher RPM than Yanmar but as a 310 owner you may know about the M25 problems our 310 has a yanmar so far no problems with over 1500 hour.

Leo,
Which Yammar do you have? Ours has a 2GM20F.

I don't want to start arguments.....maybe I do as it's safe doing this from my couch ;) I'm 5'11" and my wife is only 5'2" both small framed. I can tell you that we love each other and will spoon while going to sleep. It's when we fall asleep that the war starts for elbow room and there is no way that 310 forward cabin offers elbow room if our heads are in the bow. As for the real mattress... I find foam topped with 3 inches of additional memory foam mattress topper to be extremely comfortable and will last longer. Having slept in the C 320 aft cabin and stretching out...I can tell you it's much roomier than all of the 310's sleeping arrangements. The C 310's cabin feels unbalanced and cramped compared to the C 320's superior design. How much larger is the C 320? 1'6"? it feels much larger than that! They're both great boats and it all comes down to preference....if you find it's unnecessary for more space, then the 310 is the one.

You can always get the best of both, with some C34 mixed in and go with a 355:waycool:
As long as you say ‘I love my boat’ every time you see her then you made the right choice for you

We love our 310... Everytime we see her and miss her in the winter..
But if you were to GIVE me a boat.. the 355 would be gladly accepted. :)

Stay away from Perkins. Old ones were great, new ones, not so much.
Really with what facts? I have seen more problems with Yanmars then any other engine Lots of head problems and blown head gaskets. I know of 2 that are out now being rebuilt over the winter. Perkins is own by Caterpillar and the m30 is the most produced small diesel in the world . The 2030 volvo is a perkins m30 so is the 2020 , 2025, 2035 , 2040 and other models. They are used in skid steers, tractors, generators and industrial applications . Also parts from perkins are 1/4 of the price for the same part from volvo. I know many people with Perkins in there boats and have never had a problem including myself.
