I started my floor grates and got to roughing out the rear grate which starts at the pedestal and goes aft.

I'll update with pictures as I make progress.

I started by making templates using luan strips hot glued together. This is a countertop manuf. technique. This allows for making something with no square corners and unequal features like a fiberglass boat.

You can upload to a gallery from your profile page and load from there. Make sure the pics aren't too big.

I am looking forward to seeing them.

Also looking forward to your pictures as this is I something I am looking at doing down the road - after much more critical projects get done...

Two sections. Rear goes from the front the pedestal guard back. Templates are luan strips put together with hot glue.
Mahogany using epoxy and loose tenon (Domino) construction. Rear section isn't finished. I wanted to test fit prior. The slats are about 1/2 inch off of the floor. I'll dado in channels on the bottom of the frame to facilitate water drainage. The one picture is of the bottom. I used a router (not my most professional moment as you can see) to remove material to accommodate the pedestal foot. I had a bunch of epoxy left over so I coated the bottom for direct contact rot resistance. I'll sand it all down flat. Finish with me a penetrating stain called Ready Seal. I use it on my Meranti deck and it works well. I have a semi professional shop that I have built all of my cabinets in my house with ( beaded inset faceframe) out of maple, oak and mahogany. All of my stock is either rough or thick that allows milling which I enjoy.

Nice. I learned that technique working for a stair company in Jupiter, Fl. You might know how to spile curved and irregular shapes too. If not, it is a technique that is worth learning. Google spiling or I'll be happy to tell you about it. An old boatbuilder's technique.

Never heard of her! Lol. I'll take a look. I manufactured my own countertops out of Paperstone and learned this technique while prepping.

Very nice. I have a good eye for design but I don't have a good hand for stuff like wood burning.
