Cleaning Seat Cushions

I'm not sure how old or how clean the covers are on all of the seat/birthing cushions in my boat (I just bought it a week ago). Can I take the fabric covers off and bring them home to run through the wash or is there a better way to thoroughly clean them?

It may not be easy to get them to unzip but if you can then you should be able to wash them. If you cannot get them off consider GENTLY washing them with a power washer with soap. If you do remove them you will have to replace the plastic wrap on the cushion underneath the covers. You can get it at sailrite.

We took ours off and put them through a gentle cycle on the washing machine. I bought a roll of stuff from sailrite that sort of shrink wraps and compresses the foam. Didn't use it. Easy enough to get the covers over the foam. YMMV
