I'm working on a Bristol 24 from the mid 70's and need to make sure the chainplates are sound. There is water damage to the starboard bulkhead making it necessary to replace it or at least reinforce it. Does anyone know how the chainplates are attached to the hull?

Also, any recommendations for what outboard to use that would fit in the outboard well and have a long enough shaft and enough power?

Thanks!

The upper and lower shroud chainplates are bolted to the main bulkhead. The headstay chainplate is bolted to the hull. Cant remember how the rear stay chainplate is attached.

It's a good idea to glass in a support for the shroud chainplates, as some have come loose when the bulkhead plywood rotted.

Thank you! I am about to go in and check out the condition of the bulkhead. There is some water damage. I might have to do some major repairs on the bulkhead. It will be interesting to see how secure the chainplates are. I may have to do some glass work.

Thanks again!
