Catalina 270 versus Catalina 250

Sounds about right. You get what you pay for, but what you pay for should meet your need. Now it's up to you to decide what you need.

There seem to be a big price difference between C250 and C270. Close to double the price

Because its twice the boat. The 250 is big trailerable, designed to maximize volume at all cost, but keep systems simple. The 270 foregoes those notions, and because of it becomes a proper yacht. Inboard diesel, side decks, storage, etc. And it looks a ton better.

There is one at WYC. They don't race great, but they are having tons on fun. I like it.
