Cabintop thickness / construction

Does anyone know how thick the cabintop is in this area and what the construction is?

I have an obvious patch in this area from a PO. It was covered with starboard which I removed with the intent to drill-fill-drill the holes with expoxy. I drilled two.. one appears to be all the way through the cabintop and I think I'm to the liner. The other I stopped shorter and I think that's the inner skin. If this is correct, the cabintop is actually only about 1/4" thick and I'm not seeing a wood core? I expected thicker and not sure why I'm not seeing wood core? Anyone have info or experience that would be helpful?

I installed a 4” vent over the stove area, IIRC (was 20+ yrs ago) the coachhroof top was at least 2” thick. No balsa. I have the piece “somewhere”, I’ll take a quick look around for it.

Sorry, it must be on the boat, which is, unfortunately, not parked outside my door. :-(
