I dunno about the new battery storage place. Are there cupholders to attach later? :)

LOL I once invited a friend of ours to sail with us for that reason. Her husband sails a hobie and she doesn't like the wet ride. We invited her to come with us because "we even have cupholders".

@Scott T-Bird you are trusting the operator to be smooth enough not to dump your power cells......

Got some serious flooding going on down here! Lake is 6.55 feet over pool level, .8 feet from the top of the flood pool. They were releasing water at about 1,500 CFS for about the last 4-5 days up until last night 11pm when they closed the gates due to water levels south of here. Lowest we got was 4.88 feet over pool when it started coming back up due to high rate of inflow despite the 1,500 CFS release rate. Has come up 1.76 feet since then, 10 am on 5/20; about 26 hours. Inflow currently 14,000 CFS - that's a S...pot load of water! And, more rain in the forecast. Might get to be "Knee high by the Fourth of July"! Past time to build the Arc.

7.5 Gallons of water per CF @ 14,000 = 105,000 Gallons Per SECOND

I had to use my waders Sunday to get to the boat. The geese eyeballed me as they swam by. There's a huge log floating in one of the empty slips. I'll bet it's hazardous out on the water. Memorial weekend is going to be a bust. It's a big revenue time for the park. :(

Any way to divert all that water for replenishment of the Ogallala Aquifer?

We wish. That's a long way off from here. And, it's generally very dry out in that part of the country - which is why the aquifer is being depleted - center pivot irrigated farm ground.

In Wichita, they do pump river water down into the aquifer (equus beds) to replenish/recharge. Depending where they pull it from determines how much treatment it gets before being pumped into the ground.

Go out there now and you're going to need a boat to get to the boat.

Bet we cant see that jetty at all tonight. 7.5 feet above pool. .25 feet above the top of the flood pool, water escaping out the spillway at a slow rate. Tonights news says they will open gates slowly starting at 6am tomorrow until they get them fully open by afternoon, 4,200 CFS release, a record release. They are warning people downstream to be prepared for flooding. I have never seen it this high. Been here since 1979. And, they expect it to crest at 1.5 feet above the top of flood pool despite the release. Our club building will have water in the basement. I'm going out in the morning to see if there is anything I can do.

I drove out to the reservoir to check on the boat with all of the flooding we have been getting. The road was closed about 1/2 mile before the marina. Yep, you need a boat to get to the boats. If you can find a ramp that's not underwater, the park has closed it for safety. I did see some jetskis on the water. Let's hope they didn't hit some large floating debris.
I imagine some of the smaller craft still on trailers in the boat yard are trying to launch themselves. Some are tied to the ground. That may be good or bad. We'll see when the level comes down. The floodgates are wide open but more storms on the way. Some holiday :(

I went out there yesterday and waded the road to the club. A few pics. Water went up some more since then with two flood gates open 7.5 feet. Currently 8.53 feet over pool, max so far has been 8.65 a record since the lake opened in 1965. More rain expected next two days - expecting between 4.5 and 7.5 inches of rain.

Road to the club - about 1/2 mile from the boat yards

Big boat yard - submerged to about the first 100 feet from the gate, trailered boats (off camera left) about to float. That building, the junior sailing shed, is built off the ground on about two foot tall stilts.

Basement level of the club building - 2 foot tall flood gates across the garage doors and man door overtopped

View from the steps of the club building - slip cove on left, parking lot and road up the middle, small boat cove right. All rock Jetty's completely submerged.

Wow! What a mess! I wanted to see if the docks could rise enough or if the pins would stop them. I have visions of the boats still wanting to rise against the docklines.

Yes that is a significant concern. The bigger concern is if the telescoping pins extend so far as to come apart and leave the docks free to move about. I'm not aware of anything that would keep them from coming apart if they lifted high enough. Glad I'm still on the trailer and at the "dry" end of the big boat yard.
