Boom Vang

I have a 2001 310 with in mast furling and an adjustable boom vang. When I was putting the main on this week I discovered the vang no longer supports the boom. Without the sil out or the topping lift the boom drops till the vang is completely depressed.

Any one else have this happen? I don't know if fixing it is an option but I'm thinking it is time to buy a new one. Has any one else replaced theirs?

Depends on the vang. New spring maybe?

Contact the manufacturer. It may be rebuildable. Does sound like weak spring(s). They aren't hydraulic are they?

Should be a Manufacturer and Model number on the boom or vang. Z-Spar is mine and the company repairs them for a reasonable rate.

PS: Mine has a piston.

I'd wager a guess that it's a Garhauer vang. It's a spring in a Garhauer.
If it is a Garhauer, just give em a call.
