Yo Hersh. How's things? I leave my Merc 4hp in fully raised position all the time. Otherwise I have the same issue you mentioned with algae/slime growing on it. Never had any issues with water under the cover or anything like that. If you're really concerned about it I've seen a number of boats with canvas covers that go over the entire head of the engine to keep the weather out.

I put a cover on mine and don't worry about it.

Went out again today alone. Nice steady wind, not really strong...

I decided to fix the Tohatsu and use the tiller to steer as I am more used to do this. Maybe I link both to each other at some point.

Also want to convert the Tohatsu to a remote control box setup similar to using my Torqueedo. Bought some parts. Let see how that goes.... More research necessary.....

My Tohatsu will not stay in straight position when motoring. Have the "screw" as tight as I can get it. Did you have this problem?

So I switched the bolts out that hold the steering plate in place to quick release toggle pins. Should hold. Time will tell.

Did a test run with the toggle pins holding the steering locking plate in place and it all went well.

New Tohatsu 5HP LPG (Propane) version. No smell whatsoever compared to gasoline and relatively quiet.... No worries about ethanol in your fuel and you can store propane forever.... and if you have a BBQ grill you already got the fuel source....
