Anacortes to San Francisco

Has anyone made this passage? Looks like about a seven day trip at six knots. Did you harbor hop or do it in one passage? When is the best time of year? I thinking of doing it in two chapters, Anacortes to Brookings, then Brookings to SanFrancisco.

Any info would be appreciated.

Check out the Coho Ho Ho flotilla that leaves Anacortes late August every year.

<cohohoho.com>..Leaves from Seattle. We did this trip some 20 yrs ago on a Hylas 44 with six people. Four in early sixties and us in our forties. Left John Wayne Marina and out to the pacific and turned left. Had 50kt north westerlies and a huge sea state. The boats with us were lost from sight between troughs. We sailed on the edge of jibes and we had a wind vane steering system that was a savior. We spent a night off Newport OR so we could enter the harbor at dawn and let two crew disembark due to sea sickness. One needed medical help. We left next day in similar conditions. Had a chinese fire drill off Cape Mendocino! Finally sailed under the Golden Gate sometime later. This trip was in mid August. Just because it’s “summer”, doesn’t mean a milk run...oh ya..the only time I’ve seen a kt meter on a monohull hit 16 knots on the back side of a wave!
