I am considering replacing the Jabsco toilet in my 2008 Catalina 309, with an Air Head composting toilet. 1) has anyone done this conversion? 2) Does anyone know if the holding tank can be removed without cutting any fiberglass?

Lots of threads here on dessicating toilets, and even more on Cruisers Forum. Search is your friend.

Also check out the blog Simply Sailing Online. Connie has written at least two lengthy posts on their setup, which she loves.

We really wanted one, but the head compartment on our H31 is just too small.

I have a 2006 C309 and I think the holding tank can be removed by taking the wood panel off under the port settee and thru the hatches under the cushions. I haven't tried this but it will give you access to the hoses plus allow you to measure the tank to see if it will be removable thru the opening. You may also have problems fitting the new toilet in the head as space is fairly tight. Good Luck
