The holding tank on my 309 was being pressurized after a few flushes. Turned out to be rusted screens on the vent fitting. Ordered a new fitting from Defender, but was perplexed on how to get access to the fitting to remove it. As seen from photos, I could barely touch it and I could take a picture of it, but I couldn't really get access to it. I was about ready to disassemble the galley storage cabinet when I discovered this rather large and flat fiberglass panel in the cabinet near the area I needed access. I went to my nearby We$t Marine store and got a 4" Twist Off deck plate and installed using my rotoZip.

I don't know if you purchased the same screened vent from Defender, but those things should be outlawed.

When I replaced my vents (the tank has two for ventilation) I installed straight through fittings. I even removed the raised loops as I really don't care if a little sea water does find its way back into the holding tank. Ventilation was the main concern.
