This was a cool picture of no ocean view.

Note there is no more...
1) Florida or Keys
2) Louisiana boot
3) Bahamas and nearly South Carolina

I wonder what Columbus would have thought about this view.

It is an indication of the forces the weight of water puts upon the surface of the planet. Without water holding the place of the oceans, eventually, gravity would smooth over the larger depressions as the earth quaked and shifted. It would become as smooth as any other planet's surface.

Columbus would have thought it was a long walk to the new world. ;)

The areas you cited are mostly silt, sand, sedimentary rock (limestone), or coral. All of those require water to form. Nonetheless interesting photo. What as the source?

Every once in a while PBS has a series on laying back the ocean to see to the floor. Like Port Royal, Jamaica, with no water you can "see" the town as it was after it slid into the ocean. Boats in the streets, etc.

If it is supposed to be a world without water why would that white patch (snow/ice) be there in the north of the globe?

That's Greenland. Without the layer of snow, it must be made of quartz, you think?

Will... It is Greenland... I suspect it would be some of the following rocks...
  • Chlorite
  • Actinolite
  • Olivine
  • several of the garnets
Might be the a mix.
