Hi All! Hope everyone stays safe in light of Irma. I am looking for a replacement instrument panel for the Yanmar 2GM20F - I think the "B" model panel. It does have the tach in it. I also need the engine Stop Device. Does anyone know where I can find both of these parts. It does not appear, from the pictures I have found online, that the engine stop device (pull switch) is actually in the panel. Perhaps mine was added by a PO? (wouldn't let me attach a picture) Nevertheless, as you will see my panel has cracked in two and I won't be able to get the engine stop switch off the old. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

My 79 H30C came will a "Kill" pull knob back by the helm. It is connected by a cable to a lever on the engine. I re-powered with a Yanmar 2GM20F and found no "Kill switch" on the B panel.

You need to contact a Yanmar dealer in your area. The control panel cutout is really inexpensive. They will also have the fuel cutoff cable and assembly in stock. Yanmar is very protective of dealer territories and will not allow their dealers in good standing to sell outside their area.

Sorry I don't have a more specific image, but the stop engine cable on my '81 H27 is mounted below the control panel. The metal holder is riveted into the fiberglass.
I bought a new panel from these guys solely because they had a picture of it & the gasket:

The later Hunters seem to have a much better panel installation. The Panel is recessed and covered. Still, I see no logical reason why the shutoff is installed beside the companionway steps.
Do you ever see corrosion or crud behind the exposed flush panels?

If that's my photo you're referring to, it's actually in my cockpit, I should have mentioned that in the post. You have a good point about the later installations, it is pretty exposed like this.

Sorry Dan. I was referring to my setup. While the panel design is great, the shutoff location is illogical. I like where yours is located. Maybe Hunter moved it to keep it out of the weather.

Yes, inside would be protected, but inconvenient. I know some parts of these boats are added by the dealer at commisioning, I wonder if it's the same with the shutoffs.

Dan, The panel and shutoff on my '82 H30 are in pretty much the same location as yours; starboard side of the cockpit. Seems like a logical location, though I have wondered why the shut-off couldn't have been integrated into the engine panel.

Yes, that and an hourmeter. It’s either a cost-saving thing or because the engines are used in other ways.

Yeh, an hour meter. That would be nice.
    They sure kept it basic.
Edit/add: Good point about the engines being used for other things.

Contact AC-DC Marine, Inc at: acdcmarineinc.com The phone number is: (424) 263-5106. They design and hand make all of the pannels that you see on the web page, including Hunter. If you don't see something you like, they can easily custom design and make whatever you want.

The pull cable stop is probably a mod resulting from previous Hunter use of the old QM series Yanmars that had no shutoff.. ya simply pulled the speed control lever back all the way and that killed the engine.. The GM's require a shutdown pull.. so they just plopped it there.

BTW, the Yanmar model on my boat (Hunter Passage 42) has a push button shutoff on the instrument pannel.

For reference, my '79 Hunter 30 has the original Yanmar YSM-12. Basic panel (mounted in the cockpit on the aft port side) with idiot lights, no tach, no hourmeter, and the shutoff pull is mounted "near" the panel in the aft-center section of the seating (this boat has a "U" shaped cockpit). The 2GM20F was probably added by a previous owner in a repower. As far as I can find, the 2GM20F was not available until 1983 (but hey, stranger things have happened).
