75 hunter 27 needs a rudder

Hello,
I bent my rudder post. Help me out or it will be a short season. Does anyone know the length of the rudder post? Or a comparable rudder for sale?

I don't know how much you bent the rudder but I've known others who have. If you can get the rudder out it has been told to me that a machine shop can straighten it out. They use some sort of hydraulic press which I am not informed about. But I think this has been done. So try to find a shop who will do it and if you can get the rudder out. This often means digging a hole. A new rudder would be around 2 boat units. So,...

Dave, check the Cherubini Hunter 27 forum. I think the rudder post on those is hollow, and I have a vague recollection that there may be a "quick fix". It is not an uncommon problem, so the forum may be of some help.
Other than lucking into a used rudder, you are looking at a new one

https://ruddercraft.com/ can make you a new one but that plus shipping is $$$$. There may be rudder makers closer to you which would reduce costs dramatically. But I would check the Cherubini forum as they will be more knowledgeable.

Do a google search for cherubini 27 rudder post, there is a lot of info out there. I vaguely remember something about having the post straightened and sliding a wooden dowl or some such down the post for additional strength. There are a lot of posts on teh 'old" SBO which will show up one a google search. How badly is it bent?
