If you look on this site under Downloads of owners manuals you can find the diagram and description of the factory installed refrigeration on the 340 (see page 36C)

On my 2000 340 the cooling air was piped directly to the compessor through a 3" aluminum duct cut through the wall of the port side settee, just aft of the door to the V-berth cabin. There was also a grill cut into the wall of the aft part of the port settee to allow the warmer air to escape. The grill was just past the water heater.

Yes I have this. It doesn't help me with choosing the correct cooling capacity though. There are multiple sized units based on the volume of the box. Some people may have found it easier to mount the unit elsewhere if they converted later. The compressors are a bit smaller almost 20 years later.

You could fill it with water and calculate the volume by counting the gallons used. There are 7 -1/2 gallons in a cubic foot.

That is my next plan of attack. I was going to use a 5 gallon bucket and multiply by .668.

For what it is worth, the factory installed refrigeration/freezer unit on my 2000 340 was a: DC powered, Adler/Barbour, Cold Machine: PB201-134; Air cooled with a small vertical evaporator (10LX6WX11H). It was more than adequate for the 340 with the factory insulation. It would keep a 5lb bag of ice frozen all season.

This helps greatly.
