I just purchased a Hunter 27 (1992). The bilge pump is located on the hull just aft of the motor mounts (this boat doesn't have an inboard). There isn't a bilge pump in the keel, which is the lowest point on the hull. Has anyone tried to install a keel bilge pump?

Never heard back as I was the dealer who introduced the boat for Hunter wanting photos to refresh my memory.
As you can see. Pic#1 shot from the bilge to aft berth. Pict#2 shows the current location of the bilge pump. Pict#3 shows the bilge area where I would like to install a bilge pump. I'm curious to know why one wasn't here in the first place. It appears to me that with the current location water would be up over the sole before the bilge pump would begin to pump. I'm trying to figure out if I can hollow out a passage under the cross bracing large enough to accommodate a bilge pump line, without compromising anything. Electrical wiring is not a problem.
