So I checked on Mahalo and she is safely tucked into Fisherman's Bay on the west side of Lopez Island in the San Juan's.
It sounded like a challenging day. Winds and water of the San Juan tried to kick his .... But it did not get the better of @LeslieTroyer.

Leaving Hope Island and hitting the pass was problem free. After that was another story. For some reason the dinghy flipped vertical after Deception. After that I looked for a calm place to set it right - no luck. I did get it in the water and towed ok. Started sailing until winds got >25kts. I figured this was my solo limits and wound in the job and continued motoring. Hit a rip off south east side of Lopez Island that ticked my but a bit. The took a scheduled break at McKay Hbr to make sure there was sufficient water for me to enter Fisherman’s Bay. This was a mistake. While I was napping in a sheltered Hbr the wind and waves continued to build. When I left it was horrible most of the way up to Fisherman’s Bay. I buried the nose too many times to count - even up to the mast. Coming into Fisherman’s I usually run 1-2 kts. Today it was like 4-6 so I could ensure turns into the wind ( which died down to ~27kts).
I’m now safely anchored with out hitting any more crab traps. Wind is sill howling and should be 40+ overnite.
I think I will self medicate till I fall asleep.

Nothing like being tucked safely away on a good anchor with a little medicine. Stay safe Les.
Makes you want to review heavy wind cruising. Shows the importance of knowing where you can duck into to catch your breath. And know how to handle your boat when the wind is against you or trying to knock you about. Way to go Les.
Blowing solid at Anacortes Marina too. Ferry skipper says 35 + probable. I think more Westerly and down late.

It was blowing here earlier (Port Hardy) but seems to be dying down now. At least all those clouds seem to be leaving. Sunshine tomorrow?
It was sustained 30 kts gusting to high 30’s going up San Juan pass between Cattle pt an Lopez. Then sustains 25 gusts to 30 goin north to Fisherman’s Bay. Sounds like 20 with gusts to 25 right now in the bay. As often as you pray for wind on a cruise I think this is a bit over the top. Not scheduled to get Dow to 10 until 8am tomorrow. So long night tonight

I think we are skipping Jones and going to spend 2 nites in Wescot. One of the 3 other Everett boats is going to Friday Harbor , the other two convinced me to join them in Wescott.
