Its just about time for our friends in the midwest and northeast to cut away the shrink wrap, flush out the pipes, re-install the battery, and get to work!

Do you have any projects on your commissioning to-do list this year? Or will you just splash and dash?

In addition to the normal bending on sails and re-installing canvas, had to replace the mast boot tape this year.

I'm trying to decide if I should move house batteries from master stateroom, under bed, to under Nav station in main salon. I always seem to have low voltage issues and am wondering if I decrease then distance from about 20 ft to 5 feet would help do the trick. yes I do know about the Voltage drop across AWG #10, which isn't very much, but just curious if it would be worth the effort??

Biggest project for me:
I installed a new backstay mounted radar late last season, and its not pointed perfectly fore-aft because of the angle of the pole base mount to the transom. Now I have to figure out the angle, create a wedge shim to correct the angle. 20 minute project which will probably take a day...
Tried to do it with the boat in the water while leaning over the transom last year, not a good way.

@jdhohmann Your question and solution generates more questions in my mind.
First what do you mean “Low Voltage. Issues”. How low? How measured? What is affected?
Quantifying your battery / voltage issue may provide clues as to the cause. It may be the location, it may be the wire gauge. It may be your charging sources.

Battery location can impact the balance of your boat. Are the batteries centered in the boat under the berth? If moving them to the Nav Station will this induce a list to one side? How big are the batteries and how man are you talking about? Will you need new wire?

These are just a few of the questions that I would consider...

1. Finish sewing new salon cushion covers.
2. Sew new bimini boot.
3. Go cruising for a week (alone) in early May.
4. Remove jib and take it home to install new sail cover during MIL's visit during which I'm told I can't go to the boat.
5. Stop procrastinating.

It was gorgeous this weekend and the lake is full. Lubed my winches and waxed the hull. One more coat of wax and I think I'm ready to splash her!
"Doc" was flying this weekend. She was in sight of the boatyard but never close enough for a good picture. Doc was a Wichita volunteer restoration - https://www.b29doc.com/

Where do I begin?
1. Blast bottom, sand, bottom coat and paint.
2. While mast down-rigging inspection, run new cables for electronics, mount new antenea, new wind indicator set, 2 new halyards, etc.
3. Replace lead acid house batteries with new AGM batteries.
4. Repair the broken bath tub fitting hidden behind the house batteries (admiral wants to take baths)
5. Instal sonar.
6. Perform leak tests on both water storage tanks.
7. Instal a better condensate drain on forward AC unit.
8. Remove and re-bed forward hatch.
9. Run a water pressure test to check for any leakage on both heads to holding tank.
10. Measure, cut, bend and sew for new Dodger.
......
Ugh I never going to get back in the water!

The weather here has been sailable since late December, but Valiant has a few things that I would like to be done before her next sail.
- Bottom repainted
- New sails rigged
- Tiller restoration
- New sheets and halyards
- Polish and wax the hull and deck

That's only 5 items, but they're much easier said than done!

My list is longer, but much less work:
--Finish internal outhaul
--Route lines and mount organizer / cleats for second reef
--Glass around failing cockpit-pocket joints (hopefully that will eliminate the remaining leaks under the cockpit)
--Mount headknocker on boom for double-ended mainsheet
--Mount improved tiedowns for cockpit cooler
--Install new bimini
--Replace aged-out PFD inflators
--Add line holders and cleats to tidy up lines in cockpit

Sailkote waterline and rudders
Do you use the same spray can used on sail slugs, etc? Does it keep algae from growing above the waterline (mine is not exactly at the waterline in places and requires cleaning with muriatic acid every year)? How long does it last - all summer?
Thanks!

I finished bottom painting and replacing anodes this weekend. I'm down to just a few more pre-launch items:

Must do:
- Wash/wax topsides
- Paint transducer

Nice to do time permitting:
- Burnish bottom paint
- 20 hour capacity test of 2nd battery (one done)
- Clean and lubricate winches (can wait until post-launch, but with more risk of donations to Poseidon)

Misc to-do before or after launch:
- Fix the rubber gaskets on the engine hatch that are coming un-glued
- Inspect / lubricate steering cable and chain
- Lubricate Volvo prop shaft seal
- Bend on sails

Sorry meant Hullkote. It’s closes pores in the gel coat, smooths the surface and yes keeps slime and growth off for most of the year.

You guys all seem to behind the eight ball‼
I splashed last week after completing the winter to do list.
This weekend weather permitting just have to put sails back on
And tune the rig. Planning to be sailing by Saturday afternoon if all goes well.

Hope to see you guys out there soon. ⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵‼
