I am sure everyone knows about the Compression post problem on some Hunters where the wires went down the wood post from a hole in deck plate that the mast is secured. Here is a picture of the post removed on my project boat. I can not believe that nothing held the wood post on except the pressure of the top deck and floor compressed by the rigging. Anyone with a boat like this needs to check the post before sailing off on a nice windy day.

The bulkhead and wood door trim for the head keep it in place if unloaded.
EDIT but only when there is wood in the post, as original.

I did mine a few years back. I used stainless pipe with plates on each end to fit the original space on the upper and lower points.

I also made the wiring accessible by making the side removable. The previous owner didn't notice the issue so I had to remove some of the plywood wall to get rid of the rotten material.
