2000 Hunter 340 Engine RPM

Hi All, I was on a 2000 Hunter 340 last week w a mechanic, and he said the manual says the engine shouldn't run over 2600 RPM. That seems low to me, and i can't find a manual that talks about RPM.

Any thoughts?

3600 max rpm and cruise at 2800-3100

Assuming the tach is accurate on my boat, I normally run at 3100 RPM in open water. 340 with 3 bladed Maxprop does about 6.5 knots, but we usually only motor for about 20 minutes and we're raising the sails.

I agree with @jeff356 thats what I do with my 3gm30f.
