Cruising Peridido Bay

So Michael has diverted us away from the Panhandle and since we have already taken the week off, we are leaving tomorrow night for Peridido Bay / Gulf Shores. We are staying at Bear Point Marina. Anyone have any information on the area? It looks very cool with lots to do... dunes, forts etc.. Anything I should know or avoid?

Pirates Cove restaurant would be a fun stop.
If you have kids, then boat over to the Wharf and take them to a movie or to ride ferris wheel one afternoon.
My favorite place in the whole area is Fort McRee (old abandoned fort at Pensacola Pass). Its worth the 15 nm sail for a completely private beach area.
The orange beach area at the pass is also beautiful but is very shallow in many places so stay aware.
