27 trailer

Looking for a trailer for a 1983 27 TR, fin keel. Anyone have any idea where to find a used one in the ~4000 or less range? I have been searching for nearly a year. New ones are $6000+ A haul out at the lake I am on and a bottom job would be $3000+. Might as well spend that money on a better, longer term investment.

Have you priced them at Sail Trailers, in Columbus, GA? They built me a nice trailer for my Albin Vega 27 for $4500. They had the specs on file, so the trailer is truly "custom made" for my boat.

Yes, Sail Trailers quoted me 6100 for one custom to my Cat 27 or 6450 for an adjustable one.

No service anywhere on this lake. Haul out is $500, set it somewhere (at a service place 35 miles away) for bottom job is 2000-2500, then 500 to put it back in. If I get a trailer, the marina will let me work on it there.

About to drive to the coast and start buying trailers, they are made of gold here.

Have you checked with other boat owners of your type? In Mission Bay, San Diego... a haul out, set up on stands, prep and paint, and re launch, for a 27 footer is around $1000.... TOTAL. When you say "bottom job" what do you mean: A prep and paint.... or something more involved.

Yeah, in Nashville, TN, there is not a large sailboat contingent of anything much larger than 22-24. I am hoping to pull it, blast it down, new epoxy, and then barrier and hard paint on last. We really only get grass/scum so a good multi layer hard paint should be easy to keep clean, just dive on it a couple times each year.

I guess I am just going to go national on a search and see what I can snag and get it shipped here. Guy here has one for 5500 but it has a crap boat on it that I would have to ditch. Maybe put it on stands and sell it at a tiny house? ;-) I can charge 10,000 for a tiny house... hmmm..

Steve, take a look on the C27 specific category here. They have the specs for the cradle for the C27/C25. I used these specs on a trailer with 2" square tubing and size B scaffold jacks (local masonry supply warehouse) to build a trailer for my C27. The size B scaffold jacks fit perfectly in the 2" square tubes. They also give me the flexibility to adjust for fin or swing or another 25'-28' boat, Trailer is rated 12,500# and I tow with an F350/7.3 power stroke. I am currently searching for cradle dimensions for a 1989 Hunter 27-2 to move a friends boat.

Thanks, a friend just suggested we look at a regular trailer and modify it. That seems like it could be a good viable option. I only have to take it about 300 yds to the dry lot to work on it.
