I was thinking of just tossing it nickels as my current antenna is stainless.
Would that make my transmissions slippery and faster?

We met a couple on a West Sail 32 ( Blue Moon) from Port Townsend in Port Hardy and have been sailing together for the last few days.

Running down toward Quatsino Sound on the west coast. Seas 1 to 2 metres, making 7 kts. under just the main.
Sitting in Pamphlet Cove, Drake Island, Quatsino Sound. Bev is making ginger snaps. I'm pretending to be a mix-master.Waiting for the tide to come up to do some kayaking.
Went through Quatsino Narrows for a couple of days. Sent a night at Coal Harbour ( ex-RCAF flying boat station WW2 anti sub. and whaling station until the 60's) then to Varney Bay and a trip up Marble River. Photos by Kees on Blue Moon.
In Julian Cove, Quatsino Sound for a couple of days before heading out to round Brooks Pen.
Back in range of communications! Left Winter Harbour on Aug.6 to round Brooks Penn. Another year when we had fog all the way down to Solander Island then clearing as we headed for Columbia Cove. No pics of the fog but some of Columbia Cove. Last year I thought this was a perfect 1 boat cove but it ended up with 8 this time.
This is said to be an old Coast Guard Cutter. Haven't been able to confirm that.

After Columbia Cove it was down to the Bunsby Group. Spent a few days in Hollywood Cove watching the wildlife and kayaking.

From the Bunsbys it was down to Walter's Cove for lunch then to Dixie Cove for the night. About mid-night we were awakened by a thunder storm that lasted about an hour. The news said that lightning strikes started 150 forest fires that night.We made our way to Mary Basin in Nuchatlitz Inlet the next day.

This was leaving Tahsis Aug.15 after the fires got going. Viz. was 1/4 to 1/2 mile in smoke. The radar was on!
Anchored in Bodega Cove, Inner Basin, watching a black bear fishing off a log boom.
Trip map update. Tonight we are anchored in Hootla-Kootla Cove , a mile or two from Hot Springs Cove.
Sun Gypsy in Friendly Cove where Spain gave the Pacific North West to England. Once again , no-one asked the First Nations about it.
Yesterdays weather was so good we decided to make the run from Tofino toBarkley Sound. Had a great sail, 5 to 10 knots of wind, seas less than 1 metre. We ended up in Effingham Bay.
Going spend some time in Barkley Sd? I can tell you good place to go. (Although its been yrs since I’ve been there.....
Today was a quick run over to Tzartus Cove, Tzartus Island where we met up with Blue Moon again. Tomorrow they start for home but we have another 3 weeks here.
