• Sailing is all about the Weather.

Big into the exploration of Atlantic Hurricanes since Katrina came uninvited into his world, James (Jim) Gurley (JamesG161) has followed every Tropical Storm birthed in Atlantic, Gulf and Caribbean waters since. Being a boater, he knows that we often need more time to prepare than we get from the TV weather folk. Jim relies on the science of storm development to share early warning info with friends and fellow boaters.

Early in 2018, Jim and John Shepard, (JSSailem) started to chat about the weather data available. John asked Jim to help forecast Pacific NW storms, and this morphed into discussions on weather forecasting.

For John, sailing in the PNW is sometimes hit and miss. One day is ugly, then a string of beautiful days but no wind, followed by a series of blue-sky days and 12 knot breezes. Being ready for those great sailing days means you need to look to the Pacific Ocean and what is brewing. John has been into Pacific NW Weather since the 1970’s when his first PNW November storm hit bringing more than 40 days and 40 nights of continual rain.

Together we want to share information, new APPs, safety, and thoughts about letting the weather help you. Identify some of the resources for sailors and help prepare you for your next sailboat outing.

It is far better to go out on the water knowing what to expect in weather terms, than to be out on the water and see dark ominous clouds suddenly appear, unprepared.

TS Chris [Investigation 96 ] off the NC and SC coast is now being tracked.

A HIGH Pressure front, over Ohio now, will protect an East Coast strike and disrupt this tropical LOW.

Bermuda traffic will be disrupted.

New call sign Tropical Depression 03L.

Same path, but more news, oppressive Heat break for the East Coast.

It will strengthen a bit until off the Massachusetts coast [≈ 7/12/18] , then hit a big counter spin and die in the colder waters.

Rut Roh another minor disturbance will start to spin up just East of Central Bahamas around 7/11/2018.
It will track behind TD 03L, but a little more eastward.

Keep an eye on that area in the next few days.

TS Chris might even do what Hurricane Beryl did...

Get to be a Hurricane

Then quickly die in the next few days.

The HIGH Pressure over PA will slap Chris around and push it away from the East Coast.:)

Boy these storms are brutal to each other. Sounds like a video game. Can’t they all just get along. What’s the kumbaya song for storms

For slapping around conflict resolution...

Not a song;)

I guess I will use less "brutal words"

The High will gently push Chris eastward as the cooler water quenches Chris's thirst from more empowering energy.:pimp:

Loved Williams. That was back in the days he was playing Matt Damon’s psychologist in the movie Good Will Hunting.

That was a gentleman’s review of the storm conflicts in the Caribbean.

This now appearing to be old Beryl, trying to revive itself.

I wonder what it will be called by the National Hurricane Center?
