Many safety things changed that fateful day.
One suspected reason the S.S. Eastland capsized with 2500 passengers (844 were killed), was instability due to lifeboats and rafts being added after the Titanic sinking caused a safety rule change.

Fwiw I have never understood why there is such a romantic focus on the Titanic when there were ship sinkings with much higher loss of life. Maybe it was all the rich people aboard the titanic ? The marketing baravado of an "unsinkable ship" ?

Don Paz = 4400 dead
Gustloff = 9000 died

Why do we "Remember the Alamo" when few know about the Battle of Goliad?

“This is the West, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.”
