HUNTER 466 BROOKINGS
Hello all,

I have a S/L Horizon 1500 windlass on my 2000 Hunter 460. I need to purchase new chain but I am unsure of what type of gipsy I have. Can anyone look at the pictures I have included and give me a best guess? The gipsy has no markings that I can see without taking it off the windlass (yet). I currently have 100' 5/16" chain with 200' rode. I am unsure of the chain type because it is rusted. I'm looking to get 300' ACCO 3/8' Grade 43 (G4) hot dipped...

Most of the SL 1500 sold in NA had a gypsy spec'ed for 3/8" BBB chain. I'm not sure 3/8" Gr 43 will fit (longer links I think). Its not hard to remove the gypsy. Take it to your nearest chandler and trial fit it with the chain they have on hand.

It appears to me that the chain specification is supplied in the manual. It is dependent on the Gypsy you have on the windlass. Here is page 22 of 28 from the manual. It identifies two gypsies by number. The chain details are provided.

An easy physical approach would be to buy a foot of the chain you desire and test it for size on your gypsy.
