Painting or removing headliner?

I just bought a 27’cat, 1980. The headliner in the cabin is a beige vinyl. No tear, actually in great condition ut just outdated.Can it be painted With a special paint I guess?
And if I were to remove it to replace it, guess id be opening a can oof warms, right ?

You can use spray paint designed for plastics to cover vinyl, though doing it in place would be difficult.

If no previous owner has changed what came from the factory, then the answer is: NO, it is not beige "vinyl," it is a thin layer of fiberglass, the inside of the deck's construction.
I've owned three 1980 vintage Catalinas: 1981 C22, 1981 C25, 1986 C34.

Spray painting is one option. You need to consider many issues when spray painting. Those little droplets can get everywhere.
