does anyone know what resins were used the build these boats. epoxy or polyester? i don't have a clue what was used then.

Jon with the age of those boats weren’t the builders still exploring tree sap as a suitable material.

birch bark did need to be water proofed after sewing the pieces together'

St.Brenden used leather hulls for his blue water, transoceanic yachts.

Not sure about the leather hulls in the Atlantic, but do know that Thor Heyerdahl in 1947 tied some balsa logs together with native materials and set out across the Pacific for the Polynesia.

read the book a couple of times. followed his Ra adventures too.

He was a wild man. trying to prove things. Never understood why our how these adventures helped society. But I am sure there was some connection.
