Hi folks, my wife and I are boat shopping and looking to buy soon. We've narrowed it down to these three models. We are inexperienced sailors, so we're looking for as much online help as possible. What do you think about the Capri compared to these other boats? How is the cabin size in the Capri, good for a overnighter on the weekend? Either of this boats will fit our towing vehicles restrictions and their drafts will be ok at our lake. Racing is a distinct possibility in the future, but as far as I can tell neither of these boats are in the club fleet. On our lake most boats of this size use the Portsmouth handicap system. Let us know what you think! Thanks alot! Matt Lambert

Ah, yes!

I was pretty sure that anyone posting to the Catalina web forum would not recomend that i buy a Hunter, or Precision. What I am really curious about is why? What makes this a better boat for the money? Come-on, here is your chance to brag about how cool Catalinas are. I know you want to! Thanks :)

Go for the capri

The Capri is the perfect balance of daysailer, overnighter, and club racer. The cockpit is huge. I routinely have 5 people aboard. the cabin is just big enough to overnight. Skip the galley option. Put a Propane stove on the sternrail (easily removable for racing) and bring a 5 gallon jugg with a bucket.(also removable. As for racing this baby can really go but it aint like a cat 22. You need to work the traveler ( we hit 6.3 knots this weekend and beat a hunter 36 in a Phrf race with 15knots of wind. ZOOM ZOOM. Downwind you can get the weight foward and really go Email me if you have any specific questions. John nauticaljon@yahoo.com

GAlley?

Can anyone explain what the galley consists of other than a stove and washbasin? How is it set up. The brochure is extremely vague...thanks!

intersting

So the Galley for the Capri 22 has a water tank and pump for the sink...intersting. Seems kinda heavy. Does it slide back under the cockpit?

This has been discussed before.

Check the archives for more information about the galley. The galley unit slides under the cockpit. Some pictures from previous post on this subject. http://home.attbi.com/~lufkin/Dscf0049.jpg http://home.attbi.com/~lufkin/Dscf0045.jpg Fair Winds. Clyde
