My solar vent ran continuously for almost 3 years, I think. But after battery replacement, it only ran sporadically and finally just quit. I lost interest once the replacement battery gave out. Basically, there is no detectable air flow or benefit. You are right, it is typically used for exhaust. It is reversable but there is only detectable air flow into the cabin (when reversing the flow) when you hold your hand directly under the vent. It's not a fan and it doesn't function as a fan. If you think that you will get air movement like a fan, it's not going to happen. There may be some benefit gained by installing a solar vent, but I didn't detect any. Based on my experience, I wouldn't waste the effort to install one again on any boat. Invest in fans instead.
