Replacing engine

Mine is a 1979 Cherubini 27.
I am installing a 9.9 Suzuki to replace my old Yanmar.
Should I mount it to the right or left of the rudder.
Or how about in the middle.
I have ordered a bracket with a 15" swing and the engine has a 25" shaft.
Any suggestions?

Do you have a swim ladder mounted in the middle? Placing the motor there might interfere with the ladder. Just a thought.

Yes I do and I would have to remove it I just think that it would be easier to maneuver the boat with the outboard in the middle ,does that make sense?

We had a rudder in the middle, ladder on port and motor on starboard. Worked fine
