Many, many other skippers have had just this question, going on over 30 years now.

Just about every single Catalina One design Association website has a list of "filter equivalents." And while your engine is an important part of the equation, the most important # is the filter #.

Here's our list: NAPA 3390, Purolator PER-262-F, Fram P-3726, Kubota 7000-4308(1), Universal 298854,fleetguard # ff5226
If you find the WIX #, please post it and we'll add it to our own list. Thanks.

Picked up oil filters and fuel filters from Kubota supplier last week. Oli just over $5 and fuel just under $5, beats $10 at a marine store. I usually keep 3 or 4 of each on the boat.

Glenn, help please

Do you have "conversion" numbers for the filter parts? Or are they the same as the one I posted for the fuel filter. What specific Kubota part #s is the real question, and what # for the oil filter???

I have a M25. These are listed on the C30 web site as working on the M3-20, M25XP and others (not listed) but work on the M25 and may on the M18. Unless the part is marinized, I get it from Kubota, at least 50% less.

Oil - #70000-15241
Fuel - #70000-43081

fuel filter cross reference update

Thanks, Glenn. The point I was trying to make earlier is that if the filter # he has works, then it doesn't matter what engine, it's the filter equivalents, that happen to work on a number of engines.

Kubota Oil Filter # change

Thought I'd alert everybody that Kubota oil filter #70000-15241 has been changed to #70000-74034. If I didn't know any better I'd say this NEW number is the same one that it had 10 yrs ago!?

Just, please be careful when replacing filters and check the numbers with the Kubota dealer before you purchase. We had this above update on our C34 website as dated, may not have made it to the C30 list, or others. Ron Hill posted it--on our C34 'site.

I agree with the fuel filter #.

I just bought four of the 15241. Is there any difference? Kubota did not mention anything to me about a change or discontinuation. I have had the boat for 6 years and have never used any other filter.

Stu:

I printed the above list on 11/12/2007. Both numbers are listed on the C30 web site, 74034 is listed as "newer".

Filter # change

Those pesky filter numbering gurus! :cussing:

How dare they keep changing the #s.

Look, if you have them in hand and they are the same as the ones you have been successfully using, go ahead.

All I was trying to point out is that in 2004 we (C34 website guys) learned of what I posted. Maybe or maybe not the memo got to the C30 guys and to the Kubota guys where you bought your filters. Not a big deal...:)

I just checked with my Kubota supplier:

#70000-74034 is used on the M25 (D850) among others, cost $6.50
#70000-15241 is used on the M3-20 (D640) among others, cost $5.55

Without pulling them off the shelf and comparing them he could not say what the difference is. Compairing cost, 74034 could be larger (longer or larget diameter). If it is larger diameter, then that is a problem on my M25, it would hit the alternator belt, longer is ok. If the difference is only filtering capacity, I'm not worried since I average 13 hours/year, previous owner averaged 23 hours/year. I change oil twice a year.

Something else to check into.

How many hrs do you normally put on a filter ??

Right now I am averging about 7-9 hours between oil changes. Hurricane Ike kept us from sailing from September through February, damage and repairs. March and April weather was bad almost every weekend. We lost 8 months of sailing. In May we were able to starte sailing again. We motor out 20 to 30 minutes so not a lot of hours per year.

It is not the number of hours that is important, it is time. We sail year round, but February can bring overnight temperature into the twenties, not often. Days can be in the upper 50's and make for some great sailing. Oil changes in the spring and again in the fall.

Glad we could help, and even try to make sense while doing it!:):):)

I've averaged anywhere from 50 to 150 hours. Bought our boat in 1998 with 888 eh, now has 2,320.

I just checked with my Kubota supplier:

#70000-74034 is used on the M25 (D850) among others, cost $6.50
#70000-15241 is used on the M3-20 (D640) among others, cost $5.55

In cross matching the above part numbers via various filter manufacturers, BOTH of the part numbers are the exact equivalent.

Therefore the difference probably is they were made for Kubota by different sub-suppliers, but to the same 'specs'. There are very few manufacturers of such filters, and most 'engine brands' are purchased by the engine builders as 'private label' or 'rebranded' filters.

BTW... they are a 'nominal' 20µM filter ... a bit on the 'high side' of µM retention for a recirculating lube oil filter.
