One-Way Drain on Dinghy

I have a 1987 Achilles dink. The circular flap that is in the drain, which allows water out but not back in, has rotted. I got a replacement from Achilles but it is too stiff to let the water out while it is hanging in the davits. Achilles says it is the right piece, but it just doesn't work well.

Does anyone know where to get one that would be thinner and therefore flexible enough to let the water out?

Thanks,
Ken

You are better off without the flap. I carry a Walker Bay 8 on davits, and I found that the drain was too slow with the flap in place, so I removed it. You do not want any excess water in the dink while it is hanging in the davits! Just remember to cap the drain when you launch the dink.

Spray the drain with with 303 protectant - it is a plastic conditioner that prevents the flap from sticking to the drain frame. Drop your dink stern lower when leaving your boat.
