Dottie and I spent 13 days on Flaming Gorge Reservoir this past June. It was a great trip and the scenery is spectacular. The lake is about 90 miles long with the upper half in Wyoming and the lower half in Utah.
The Wyoming part is fairly wide and the shores are lower rolling hills and the sailing was good. The winds on most days were light in the morning and came from various directions and in the afternoon would often clock up into the low 20's out of the southwest. We often stopped sailing when the winds got to high and would either anchor or beach the boat in one of the numerous side arms of the lake.
Due to trees/shrubs under the water we started always beaching the boat since we did have some problems with the anchor rode wrapping around the underwater growth.
In the Wyoming part of the lake .....
.... we sailed from destination to destination but ...
... once in Utah you are in one long canyon all the way to the dam and back again so we motored almost all of that with a little motor-sailing and sailing.
The scenery in the Utah part of the lake is spectacular.
The last day in Utah we passed some Big Horn Sheep on the shore and ....
... our last night, back in Wyoming, we beached the boat at the end of an arm and a number of deer and antelope came down to drink about 100 feet from the boat.
Nearby on a cliff there was an almost full grow Golden Eagle baby that wasn't quite flying yet. It was a great end to the trip. We had also seen numerous deer, antelope, ducks, geese, and hawks and such on almost every day. Lots of wildlife in the Wyoming part of the lake.
You can find the trip report with lots more pictures and data here ....

We would highly recommend this as a destination for any trailer sailor,
